The Story Of The Elephant

The Elephant and the blind Men

Once an elephant came to a small town.  People had read and heard of elephants but no one in the town had ever seen one.  Thus, a huge crowd gathered around the elephant, and it was an occasion for great fun, especially for the children.  Five blind men also lived in that town, and consequently,  they also heard about the elephant.  They had never seen an elephant before, and were eager to find out about elephant.
Then, someone suggested that they could go and feel the elephant with their hands.  They could then get an idea of what an  elephant looked like. The five blind men went to the center of the town where all the people made room for them to touch  the elephant.
Later on, they sat down and began to discuss their experiences.  One blind man, who had touched the trunk of the elephant, said that the elephant must be like a thick tree branch.  Another who touched the tail said the elephant probably looked like a snake or rope.  The third man, who  touched the leg, said the shape of the elephant must be like a pillar.  The fourth man, who touched the ear, said that the elephant must be like a huge fan; while the fifth, who touched  the side, said it must be like a wall.
They sat for hours and  argued, each one was sure that his view was correct.  Obviously, they were all correct from their own point of view, but no one was quite willing to listen to the others.  Finally, they decided to go to the wise man of the village and ask him who was correct.  The wise man said, “Each one of you is correct; and each one of you is wrong.   Because each one of you had only touched a part of the elephant’s body.  Thus you only have a partial view of the animal.  If you put your partial views together, you will get an idea of what an elephant looks like.”
The moral of the story is that each one of us sees things exclusively within one’s point of view.  We should also try to understand other people’s points of view.  This will enable us to get a proper perspective on different  situations and events.

How To Add a Mailing List Signup Form To Your Facebook Page

I’m happy to say this is easy to do and can be accomplished in just a few minutes.
This tutorial will walk you through the entire process step-by-step. (Of course, if you get lost or run into trouble, first panic, and then call our Support Department who can help you further.)
Do not be intimidated by the length of this tutorial. I included nice big images to make everything really clear!
As a quick summary, we are going to install an application named “Static FBML”. This will let us add a new tab to your Facebook page where we can add our own custom HTML. In this case, that custom HTML will be the code for your signup button or form that you got within your Elite Email account.
Before We Begin…
Make sure you have setup a Facebook page for your organization. This is easy to do and there are a ton of tutorials online. Simply search for something like “Create a Facebook page for my business” and you will find tons of guides.
Step 1: Add The Static FBML App
Many of the tabs you see along the left side of your Facebook page are built right into Facebook. Things like your wall and photos are there by default. But, in this step, we need to add a new tab.
If you are logged into Facebook, you can search for “Static FBML” or click here.

Step 2: Setup The New FBML Tab
After adding the application, go to your Facebook page and click “Edit Page”.
Then, using the menu on the left, select “Apps”.
Locate the FBML app (which will now appear in the list of apps on the right side of your page) and click “Edit Settings”.

This will open a new window on your page. You will see you have the option to add a new tab. Click the “add” link.

After clicking “add” you will see the text changes from ‘available’ to ‘added’.
Step 3: Add Your Signup Button/Form
From the “Apps” page click “Go to App” in the FBML box.

For the Box Title, name it something like “Email Signup”, “Join Our Mailing List” or anything else you would like.

Just below that box is a large text area with the title “FBML”. This is where you need to add the code from your Elite Email account.
Open a new browser window and login into Elite Email. Go to the CONTACTS tab, then choose MORE and GET MORE CONTACTS.
Here you can choose whether you want to add a signup button or signup form.

In this example, we will choose a “signup button”, but the process is really the same. [After choosing a button or customizing your form, you will get HTML code to copy/paste.]
Browse through all the button categories and find a button you like. Then click “Select”.

After clicking “Select” you will see the Current Selection at the top of the screen update to reflect your choice. Click the “Continue >>>” button.
On the next screen you will see a bunch of code (don’t worry, you don’t actually have to understand the code… there’s no pop quiz later!).
Simply copy all of the code. (Tip: Highlight the code and press CTRL + C on your keyboard)
Open the window where you have Facebook open. You should still be on the “Edit FBML” page.
Paste the code (that you copied above) into the big text area with the title “FBML”. It should look something like this:

After clicking “Save Changes” you are basically done!
Step 4 (Optional): Fine Tuning Settings
